Patient Safety and Quality
At Central Carolina Hospital, quality of care is our top priority. We have set five quality goals for 2024: one related to prevention of Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), and four related to improving patient satisfaction.
We are focused on four key areas for patient experience:
- Communication with nurses
- Communication with physicians
- Responsiveness of staff
- Discharge information
Our leaders are committed to improving patient experience by frequently rounding in the patient care areas. Our nurses complete bedside shift report- to engage the patient in their care. We all believe that responding to our patient’s needs quickly help them to feel our compassionately cared for.
In addition to improving the patient experience, CCH is working to reduce readmissions, reduce mortality rates, improve the safety of care, and improve the timeliness and effectiveness of care. All these measures are part of ratings from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and can be viewed by the public at https://www.medicare.gov/care-compare/.
The measures from CMS are based on our performance from prior years, so they do not reflect the quality of care we are providing to our patients today. By taking steps now to improve patient safety and quality, our future scores will improve, helping us to fulfill our mission of making communities healthier.
