Hospitalist Program
What is a Hospitalist?
A hospitalist is a board certified physician or a physician assistant who specializes in providing care to patients while they are in the hospital.
What are the Benefits to Me?
First and foremost, high quality care is available to you around the clock, seven days a week, by highly trained physicians. The hospitalist team's primary focus is on diagnosing and treating acute and complex medical problems that result in your hospitalization.
Will I See Other Physicians?
The hospitalist team may consult other specialists to assist in your care.
What Will Happen When I am Discharged?
Your hospitalist team will discuss your discharge medications and other instructions with you. Your primary care physician will receive a summary of your stay, including discharge diagnoses, new or changed medications, and recommended follow up visits or referrals. In order to assist your healthcare team, it is VERY important to take all hospital paperwork and your medicines to your follow up appointment.
What If I do not have a Primary Care Physician?
As ongoing medical care is necessary to keep you healthy, it is important that you establish a relationship with a primary care physician. If you do not have a primary care physician please utilize our physician referral line at 1-800-483-6385.
