Birth Center
Call 919.774.2280At Central Carolina Hospital, we celebrate bringing 300 new lives into the world every year!
Our Birth Center includes five private and spacious labor and delivery suites with amenities such as private bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs, sleeper sofas for dads, central monitoring and in-room infant care areas.
Our Birth Center provides management of premature labor, fetal surveillance and delivery of term infants, with a Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The unit maintains an outreach relationship with tertiary care centers to advise and facilitate the transfer of premature labor patients and other high-risk OB patients.
Next Steps
Our mother/baby "room in" service allows you to be with, and care for, your newborn for as many hours as you wish during your in-hospital stay. If you choose, your baby may spend time in the nursery where there are systems in place to help keep your baby safe and securely monitored.
Our Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides intermediate care by our Pediatric Hospitalist group to well neonates and also those who require supportive care. Infants who require intubation and ventilation are stabilized with the proper equipment and then transferred to a tertiary care facility. The Level 2 NICU is equipped with Isolettes to care for stable premature infants who require time to grow, and bilights for the infant with hyperbilirubinemia.
Visiting Hours
Revised Visiting Policy September 24th, 2021:
Labor and Delivery/Postpartum:
- Laboring mothers may designate two support people to stay with them during labor and delivery. If a doula is present, they count as one person.
- Postpartum patients may have two well visitors per day, including one designated support person that stays with the mother for the length of stay.
Visiting hours are flexible to accommodate your family. In keeping with our family-centered philosophy, we strongly encourage siblings to visit. If they are under the age of 14, they should be accompanied by an adult. Please make sure siblings and visitors have no sign of fever, colds, or other infections when they come to visit, simply as a precaution for you and your baby.
