Dr. Samuel Hammonds Joins Central Carolina Hospital

Central Carolina Hospital today announced that Samuel Hammonds, MD has joined its staff and will be offering orthopaedic and sports medicine services to patients in Sanford and the surrounding region. Dr. Hammonds will join a new practice Central Carolina Orthopaedics, which is part of Central Carolina Physician Practices, the affiliated medical group of the hospital.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Hammonds to Sanford to practice at Central Carolina Hospital,” said Chris Fensterle, CEO at Central Carolina Hospital. “Orthopaedic surgery is a growing need in our community, and Dr. Hammonds’ training at the Cleveland Clinic and fellowship at UNC has given him a great breadth of experience in a wide range of procedures that people in our region need.”
Dr. Hammonds attended medical school at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (Greenville, NC). He joins the hospital’s medical staff following a residency in orthopedic surgery at Cleveland Clinic (Akron, OH) and a fellowship in orthopaedics sports medicine at University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill, NC), where he gained clinical and operative proficiency in sports injuries and surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM).
Dr. Hammonds specializes in general orthopaedics; sports medicine; total joint replacement; knee, shoulder and hip surgery; arthritis and reconstructive surgery.
