Urologist brings his expertise to Sanford
Sanford, NC (January 3, 2018) – Central Carolina Hospital announced that Antonios Karamalegos, M.D., has joined its staff and will be offering Urology services to patients throughout Sanford and surrounding areas. Karamalegos joined Central Carolina Hospital’s medical staff on January 2, 2018.
“Dr. Karamalegos has over 35 years’ experience in Urologic medicine, and his specialties include adult and pediatric urology. He is an excellent addition to our medical staff,” said Spencer Thomas, Interim CEO of Central Carolina Hospital. “Dr. Karamalegos joining our team with his expertise and experience is important as Central Carolina Hospital strives to meet our region’s evolving healthcare needs and make our community healthier.”
Dr. Karamalegos joins Central Carolina Hospital from Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC where he has been on staff since 1989. Previously, he was on staff at Brunswick Hospital in Shallotte, NC.
Dr. Karamalegos is a graduate of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI where he received his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Karamalegos completed his Residency in General Surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, MI. He completed his Residency in Urology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI where he also became Chief Resident for the Department of Urology. He specializes in adult and pediatric urology, endourology, ESWL, medical and surgical treatment for impotence, prosthesis, sling procedures, urodynamics, oncology, infertility, prostate ultrasonagraphy, BPH microwave therapy and prostate cancer cryotherapy.
